Benefice Name

We would like a ‘working name’ for the Benefice. This won’t necessarily be a permanent name as this requires a lot of red tape but if you have any ideas, please contact Jane – we can’t guarantee to use suggestions but some ideas would be welcome.

Open the Book

If you would like to join the team for ‘Open the Book’ in Long Sutton School – or find out more – there will be a meeting for those interested at Long Sutton Vicarage on Tuesday 10th February at 2.00pm.

It is a scheme sponsored by the Bible Society for telling the story of the Bible in Primary Schools. Age is no barrier, many Open the Book teams are mostly retired people. Full scripts are provided, and each session takes about an hour during the day - term times only. Put ‘Open the Book’ into an internet search engine for more information -or ask me. We had a demonstration from the Norton sub Hamdon team at the Benefice Service on 18th January & I have a prayer cards and information if you missed it.

We also need people who will collect props and make costumes – patterns provided! We will need old sheets (white, brown, green – but not bright colours) and curtains (fancier, eg brocade etc,) for Kings robes. Also men’s shirts (striped, plain, but not bright colours) as children’s tunics. Also needed are unwanted wallpaper rolls for backgrounds, scrolls etc. Use your imagination!

Please contact Jane (241260, jane.twitty@btinternet.com) if you are interested. (As you will be in contact with children, a police check will be needed.)  Jane Twitty
